Social Issues in MPAs
What are the initiatives that communities themselves are taking to conserve and manage resources? Have co-management arrangements between governments, communities and NGOs been successful? Can MPAs be both "biological successes" and "social failures"? What are the factors affecting the sustainability of community participation and community-based coastal resources management interventions? What recent efforts are being made, policies formulated and strategies employed to enhance participation of communities? Have conservation efforts contributed to poverty alleviation, as they should? The articles under this theme deal with these issues
